My Friday Fictioneers entry for this week. In case it’s not obvious, I decided to continue from where last week’s story left off:
The Chase Continues
Mark thought he’d be safe once down from the mountain, where by chance a park ranger caused his assailant to give up the chase. But now he was trapped on a boardwalk.
Who is this guy? Why’s he trying to kill me?
Spying a patch of reeds, he vaulted over the railing. Stagnant water engulfed him, feet sinking into the muddy bottom. He yanked out a reed, snapped off the top, and blew through it.
Let’s hope this works.
He struggled to a brushy spot under the boardwalk, put the reed in his mouth, and lay in the murky water.
