My Friday Fictioneers entry for this week.
It was challenging to keep the story going this week without a plan for where it’s heading. Here’s what I came up with:
Mark nudged his captive forward. He needed some decent cover with good visibility amidst the gnarled pines.
After subduing his attacker, Mark had made him arrange a meeting with his bosses. A risky move, but he had to find out why they wanted him dead. They’d agreed to meet in a nearby park.
Two men in dark suits approached. He ducked behind a tree.
“Mr. Reynolds. You asked to see us?”
“Why’re you after me?”
“Nothing personal. You’re just in the way.”
“What do you mean?”
“Your position. We need our guy there.”
“What if I leave?”
“That could work.”
